Finalist of the Women in Tech Europe Awards: Most Disruptive Tech
What an incredible experience it was to attend the WOMEN IN TECH® Global event in Brussels, October 1st! Although I (so strange not to write ‘we’ here) didn’t win, being nominated as a finalist for the European Most Disruptive Tech Awards was an honor that meant a more to me than I initially envisaged. The recognition highlights the disruption we enable and our commitment to system change for global impact. But also how I value the people I am honored to work with on a day-to-day base.
An Honor and a Surprise: Most Disruptive Tech
Becoming a finalist itself was a delightful surprise and an immense honor. I am incredibly thankful to our amazing team for their hard work and dedication. However so strange not to write “we” regarding this reward, for me this was a recognition allowing us to highlight the importance of our global supply chains and the need for system change. Our Solvoz technology is all about disruption for good, supporting organizations worldwide in increasing their efficiency and effectiveness.
However it was a personal one, an award honored to a women disrupting tech, shaking things up a bit. Little did I know it were actually my team members who had nominated me in the first place. They wrote the application about the vision I had years ago, turning into a tech platform (with an incredible team) utilized by organisations globally. Besides the technology, there was a recognition towards my role as ambassador for enabling systemic change, using our supply chains as a force for good.
About Women in Tech and Their Global Awards
Women in Tech® is a global movement that aims to close the gender gap and help women embrace technology. Their Global Awards celebrate the outstanding achievements of women in technology and innovation across various categories. As per their website: The Most Disruptive Tech Award specifically honors women who are driving groundbreaking changes in technology, recognizing their innovative contributions that challenge the status quo and create significant impact.
Also the event showed that the world is actually a small place. I found out during the event that the winner of the Most Disruptive Tech award is actually a friend of an old friend of mine, during my time in Dublin! Such a small and beautiful place, our world.
Exploring Brussels
Attending the event with my dear colleague Julia Pavlenko was a highlight. Before the evening’s festivities began, we took the opportunity to explore the beautiful city of Brussels. It was wonderful to share this experience with Julia and to reflect on our journey together. She has been one of the key persons there for me and the company. Having my back when I am too chaotic for all things in my agenda, the follow ups, and last but not least, the magic she does in our visuals and social media!
For all of you that know me, I am just very grateful being surrounded by so many amazing and beautiful people. So many have joined us on this journey, one I started years ago by giving up my job to pursue required system change (see an earlier blog on this here). Having this recognition was just such a surprise and I am thankful to have this great memory now on this event, together with a dear colleague. It is not normal for me to be in the same location with my colleagues, since we are a real digital agency. No office, no face-to-face meetings. A digital technology with a remote workforce. From Africa to Europe, from Asia to Australia.
